MCPS Public Speaking
Public Speaking Competition

A huge Thunderbolt shout-out to every single one of our MCPS students who took on the challenge of creating a speech and presenting it to staff and peers!

This demonstrated diligence, perseverance, & for many, a growth mindset. It is not an easy task and takes hard, hard work, practice and for many who are not normally comfortable with getting up in front of others, resilience! Well done!

Some of our students then went on to our School Competition on January 27th. The speeches were engaging, entertaining, informative and so very well presented! Our judges, Officer Janes from the South Bruce OPP, former MCPS school family member, Mr. Callan, and Mildmay Crier editor, Ms. Bross, had a hard time deciding on placements!

In our Senior Division, Janessa Pletch placed first; Lesley Walter was second, Avery Annett was third and Cameron Mackenzie was fourth.

In our Junior Division, Oliver Stroeder was first; Lydia McIntosh was second; Lucien Lobsinger third; Landon Calvert, Gracie Colwell and Hayley Hanes were fourth.

In our Primary Division, Jake Hanes was first; Ivelyn Koebel was second; and Mikayla Kerr placed third.

Well done and congratulations!

As a result of this competition, the following students went onto the Legion competition held in Walkerton on February 2nd- Jake Hanes, Mikayla Kerr, Oliver Stroeder, Janessa Pletch and Lesley Walter. Janessa Pletch placed first in her division and Lesley Walter placed second. Oliver Stroeder took third place in his division and Jake Hanes earned second in his division! THUNDERTASTIC... ALL OF YOU!!! Janessa will be moving onto the next level of Legion competition at the end of February.

Oliver Stroeder, Lydia McIntosh, Lesley Walter and Janessa Pletch will also all be moving onto the Bruce County District 1 Competition at Mary Immaculate School in Chepstow on March 2nd.
